The 2024 Australian Energy Producers Conference (20 - 23 May 2024) is the flagship annual gathering for the oil and gas industry with Australian and global leaders of the industry gathering to focus and discuss important issues.  Under the theme, ‘Delivering the new energy economy’, key figures across industry, government and energy users and geopolitics came together to advance the sector’s central role in establishing the ‘new normal’ aligned with net zero, sharing experiences and insights on the major challenges and opportunities for the industry.

GRPS had the privilege of sharing our knowledge with our National HSSEQ Manager Greg Chrisfield presenting his session on 'Transitioning a hydrogen facility from project to operations'. Based on our experience working on green hydrogen projects, GRPS were able to enact four key initiatives that enabled the safety culture to deliver safe commissioning and incident-free operations:

1. Detailed Operational Readiness and Assurance Register
2. Gated Pre-Startup Safety Review Process
3. Consultation and training for frontline workers in developing Safe Operating Procedures using Usability Mapping
4. Methodical risk assessments completed by the operations team to review associated risks and controls prior to each new activity being performed
